NovaAir Announces the Official Commencement of Large-scale Tonnage Supply of Air Gases in Malaysia

Recently, NovaAir Industrial Gases Sdn. Bhd. (hereinafter referred to as ¡°NovaAir¡±), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Yingde Gases, China and Alliance Steel (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (hereinafter referred to as ¡°Alliance Steel (Malaysia)¡±) concluded a contract for the supplies of air gases in the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP). In this contract, NovaAir will invest, construct and operate several large-scale air separation units with a total oxygen production capacity of 128,000 Nm³/h within the park. To date, this project is Yingde Gases¡¯ largest tonnage air separation gas supply investment involving end-to-end implementation outside of China. This collaboration solidifies the foundation among Yingde Gases, NovaAir and Alliance Steel (Malaysia), to the next level of partnership in creating world-scale steel manufacturing base in Malaysia.

Delegates attended the signing ceremony, including Pan Chuanxia, Board Member and Vice General Manager of Alliance Steel (Malaysia), Zeng Jiyang, Vice General Manager of Alliance Steel (Malaysia), Li Zengming, Finance General Manager of Alliance Steel (Malaysia), Fang Shiwen, Chief Executive Officer of Yingde Gases, Huang Siying, Chief Finance Office of Yingde Gases and Charlene Quek, Managing Director of NovaAir.

According to the contract, NovaAir will invest, construct and operate a few air separation units with the total investment amount expected to be around RMB 800 million. The facility is capable to deliver a total oxygen production capacity of 128,000 Nm³/h, and it will be executed in two phases to support Alliance Steel's current and phase 2 expansion requirements.

The new air separation unit will incorporate Yingde Gases¡¯ proprietary air separation technologies and operation practices that are best suited for metallurgical or steel manufacturing industry. Yingde and NovaAir wish to achieve operations excellence through deploying these matured, advanced and proven technologies to lift overall project¡¯s efficiency and productivity.

The MCKIP is China¡¯s first national-grade industrial park established in Malaysia and is listed as one of the key projects in the ¡°Belt and Road¡± Initiative. As the first project to enter the industrial park, Alliance Steel (Malaysia) is also one of the most competitive steel plants in Southeast Asia. Through the Phase II expansion, Alliance Steel (Malaysia) is set to establish a steel manufacturing base with a 10 million ton annual production capacity.

In the future, NovaAir plans to integrate Malaysian market demands and expanding its offerings while making innovative development to meet the needs of semiconductors and photovoltaics in the areas of rare gases extraction and waste-stream energy harvesting. NovaAir is also set to make further investments in green energy, promote the development and application of green hydrogen, renewable natural gas extraction, and supply a wide range of industrial gas products to users in MCKIP and surrounding areas.
